19 miles ( 1/2 marathon PR 1:11:50)
3 mile easy warm-up with striders
13.1 miles (1:11:50)
3+ mile cool down
I woke up at 4am to get some toast and a cup of coffee to wake up before the 6:30am start. It was a fast course with the majority downhill. The weather was also about perfect. I felt pretty comfortable the entire time. I never really pushed the pace until I could see the finish. Overall a good race, especially since I was tired all week recovering from my Maui vacation. Just tired.
2/28
6 miles
Easy recovery in phoenix. I didn't get much sleep on the flight to phoenix. I was exhausted when I arrived and after a good breakfast, I took a good 2 hour pour nap. I woke up and did a super easy 6 miler. It felt pretty good though running in the sun in shorts.
2/27
11 miles (5am/6pm)
Both runs today were super easy recovery pace. I was tired and my legs felt tired this morning before work, but my afternoon run my legs felt great and had some spring back into them. Leave for Phoenix tonight.
2/26
20 miles (5am/15pm)
Easy recovery before work today. After school I had a real good run, but just feel tired overall. I felt fine and actually strong, but mentally tired. I just need to put together a couple of good nights sleep. I started at 7:30 pace and progressed down to 5:42 pace by the end.
2/25
14 miles (8am/6pm)
Both were super easy recovery. Very tired before work today, but felt better after school running.

Tired today from a long week in Maui. Ran an easy 5 during my lunch break and then I ran to Huffman and back after work at another easy recovery pace. Sun was out!!!!

17 miles
Last day on the island and I awoke up at 6am to get my long run done. Was out the door before 7. Ran all the way down to Front St in Lahaina and back. Started at 7 min pace and progressed down to 6 min pace. I felt pretty good, just a little tired from the week. 17 miles is still kind of long without carrying any water and running in the sun. It was great doing all 6 runs in shorts and no shirt. Definitely coming back to Maui soon.
2/22
12 miles
Same exact route as yesterday, but kept it at easy recovery pace. I also didn't start until after 12pm so it was pretty warm. Felt good though.
2/21
12 miles
Ran my same route. Started at 7:30 pace and progressed down to sub 6. Felt good. My diet hasn't been the best, but I'm on vacation!
2/20
10 miles
Easy recovery pace in Maui. I was running by 7:30am and I ran the same route. I could tell my legs were tired from the faster pace yesterday and playing on the ocean yesterday with a stand up board. I forced myself to run slow, so I can recover for tomorrow's run. I have to remember that I'm on vacation and it's ok if I deviate from the plan a little.
2/19
11 miles (5 x 800m w/ 90 sec rest)
Woke up early to get it done. Took me a long time to get warmed up. Ended up doing 4 miles w/ strides before I started the VO2 max stuff. I also just decided to run at a perceived 5K pace effort for 2:30 min. The first workout like this always seems hard. I guess I'm just not use to using this system.
2/18
10 miles
Started running in the heat of the day. It was so nice running in the sun in shorts and no shirt. General aerobic pace and I felt great.
2/17

I had a great workout this morning!!!! I know I'm in uncharted territory with my fitness, because it felt so easy and comfortable. I guess it should be, since it's only 12 miles and a Marathon is 26.2. But, I've done many of these workouts and it has never been so comfortable. This will definetly motivate me the next 9 weeks. I'm also excited to be going to my daughters dance recital this afternoon. I love to watch her dance!!! Both my kids work so hard. I'm a lucky man. Heading to Hawaii tomorrow too. It works out great because it's also a recovery week. I can't think of a better place to be while running. Here is today's workout.
3 mile warm-up w/ striders

Jake Moe met us for the 2nd half. I felt pretty strong and we ran most the run at a good clip. Lots of sub 6 miles which is pretty good considering the terrain and dressed for 15-20 degree weather. I did feel ready to be done at the end for sure. Good effort today.

Had a great tempo workout this morning before school. I realize that I need to have my tempos be closer to 5:20 pace to reach my goals this spring. Granted this was done on the treadmill, but I've done this before and I felt more fit than I ever have running these. Things are looking up. As long as I keep to the plan and don't get greedy! I'll stay healthy and have a shot at sub 2:30 in Boston.

Both runs were easy recovery pace. Ran during lunch on treadmill at school. Then I ran to Huffman and back after practice tonight. Felt good to be OUTSIDE!!!

11 miles
Ran before work again this morning. Have a wrestling meet tonight, so I had no other choice. I felt really good again. Started at 7:30 pace and progressed down to 5:52. Kept it fairly easy. I guess that's general aerobic pace.
